There may be times in our lives when we find ourselves in situations that cause us concern, or stress, or seem overwhelming. Talking with a counsellor can help.
How can counselling help?
Counselling is a space where you can talk confidentially, helping you make sense of what is happening in your life as well as offering you support through difficult times. The aim of counselling is to provide an opportunity for you to work towards living in a more satisfying and resourceful way.
The counselling sessions
In the sessions you have the opportunity to talk about your circumstances, thoughts and feelings. As your self-awareness and understanding of your experience grows, new perspectives and possibilities often emerge. Counselling offers you a secure and confidential environment to explore issues, increase confidence and create positive change.
Our initial half-hour meeting will cost £10 and enables us both to see if counselling is appropriate for you at this time in your life. I charge a standard fee of £35 per hour for following sessions. Telephone Counselling is also available; my fee is £30 per hour. Concessions are available for in-person and telephone sessions; please enquire.
I am an Accredited Counsellor MBACP with experience of working with many counselling agencies and with people from a wide range of workplace settings and backgrounds. I have worked as a Practice Counsellor in GP Surgeries and in private practice for over fifteen years – this has given me much experience in brief solution-focussed counselling and longer-term counselling.
My counselling approach is Integrative and can offer Mindfulness approaches and practices. My life and work is enhanced by my training and practice in:
• Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy MBCT and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction MBSR. I have trained in and taught courses in both.
• I am an Accredited Breathworks Trainer and offer approaches to Living Well with Pain and Chronic Illness.
• I have over twenty years’ experience as a Yoga Teacher.
• I have worked with people coping with difficulties around stress, depression, anxiety, relationships, loss, bereavement, low self-esteem, anger, abuse and trauma, amongst other issues. Counselling is also useful for those seeking personal and professional development.
